My Wedding Disaster
By The Wedding Gazette

Did you pass out at the altar? Or, did your bridesmaids get in a fight at the shower? What was your wedding trauma (that now seems funny) that you wish to share?

It's the Little Things

I am a Special Event Coordinator, and I thought that I had every possible detail covered. I have been the Coordinator for many weddings, and I have never heard of anyone having the problems that I had at my wedding. I guess when you think you have it all covered, you should start thinking of the unimaginable.ÊI just got married on September 1st. We had our ceremony & reception at a beautiful B&B. It was a warm, beautiful day to have a garden wedding. Immediately after the recessional, the bridal party was gathered under a very large tree to stay cool. Unknown to me, the flower girls and ring bearer were sitting on the ground waiting patiently. We were then called to take our pictures when one of the bridesmaids said, "it smells like poop." One of the flower girls and the ring bearer had sat in dog poop. Luckily it was not noticeable in pictures, but the kids had to reluctantly change their clothes. (Tip-make sure there is a "Gardening Clause" in the contract if you are having an outdoor wedding, stating that they will make sure the area is well groomed and clean from animal feces.) So, pictures are done and it's time for our grand entrance. We are all walking into the reception area when we realize that our tables are not reserved. There are people sitting at all of the tables that were supposed to be reserved for the bridal party. (Tip-Make sure that there are noticeable "Reserved for Bridal Party" signs at each of the tables. Let the bridal party know where they are sitting at the rehearsal. Have a group of people sit around the tables during the rehearsal to make sure there is plenty of room to walk around.) The reception is going great, having a ball. Then I realize that my mother is taking down the decorations and that people are starting to leave (mind you that the reception is still scheduled to go for another hour-and-a-half). I found out the next day that the owner of the house told my mother that if the place wasn't cleaned up and the decorations taken down by the time the reception was over, that she was throwing everything away. (Tip-This really shouldn't be a tip because it's just common courtesy, but you'll want to clarify that all clean-up is done after the reception is over.)

For the most part, people didn't notice any of the issues that I had with my wedding day. Most of it didn't affect our day as the most important part is that we are MARRIED!!! Angel from Nipomo, CA
